From Humble Beginnings to Culinary Legend: The Bruno Selimaj Story
Born and raised in a modest village nestled on the Albanian/Montenegrin border, Bruno Selimaj's journey began as a simple farmer. However, at 18, with his parents' blessings, he embarked on a transformative journey to America, seeking a new life.
Deeply ingrained in Albanian culture is the tradition of treating guests with utmost respect, as cherished members of the family. Bruno carried this core value to his restaurant, and his life became a testament to true hospitality.
Bruno embodies the ideal owner, host, and restaurateur. Arriving in America in the early 1970s with no English language skills, he persuaded a friend to help him secure a job at New York's renowned Nani's Restaurant. Within five years, he had risen to become one of the city's most respected restaurant captains.
Driven by unwavering faith and a deep understanding of the industry, Bruno realized his dream in October 1977, opening Bruno Restaurant, a Northern Italian gem. It quickly garnered rave reviews and became a beloved haunt for New York's elite. Bruno, his family, friends, and dedicated staff became overnight sensations, serving countless delighted patrons.
In December 2007, after 30 years, Bruno closed his legendary restaurant, driven by a new vision and an unwavering passion for excellence. In its place, he opened Club A, a modern American steakhouse, blending traditional elements with contemporary flair. This venture cemented Bruno's status as one of New York's most iconic restaurateurs.
Club A Steakhouse opened in April 2008, representing a new chapter for Bruno. After three decades of running Bruno Ristorante, he sought a venture that would involve his entire family and create a lasting legacy. The "A" in Club A honors his three sons—Arben, Agron, and Alban—who work alongside him, upholding the family's values of hospitality and exceptional service.
